Just a little follow up regarding our group visit to the Iditarod last week. Everything went off like clock work. Our hotel in Anchorage had a great location and the staff is wonderful.  We dealt mainly with Chad and Angela who were extremely helpful.  Jane and I went to the melodrama at the ---goose.  It was great fun.  It is a fund raiser for the Sweet Anilines Chorus. There is not a lot of singing just a funny, silly, melodrama - The audience boos the villain, throws lots of popcorn at the actors and each other.  They sell out so tickets need to be bought early.  We went to the Anchorage Museum which is great for both adults and kids and not expensive.  The magic bus guide was great - very informative and interesting.  The glacier trip was interesting.  When we got to Whittier I thought this is going to be a dud.  Weather was bad, cold, windy.  The boat is very small and packed.  I felt like I was in a plane.  Couldn't see out the fogged up windows and hardly had any space to sit.  When the guide said that we would be able to go outside when we got out in the sound, I thought "Yea, Right! and freeze to death"  However, it was a great trip.  I think we were the only boat out and the sun came out.  The boat was small enough to "beach" and we all got off the boat and walked up to the glacier and all around. Good pictures and fun.  Then we went to another glacier and watched ice cascading down into the sound.Altogether a nice trip.

You did the right thing starting the tour to Willow early.  The start was in a very small place and we got there in time to see the first and last musher off.  The van there was great -  early to the hotel and right on time at the stops. We saw a number of mushers at the first check point.  The community was very welcoming and had food and drink for sale.
