Iditarod Sponsoring

Iditarod Sponsoring

Sponsoring the Iditarod | Ways to Support Mushers and the Race

There are several ways to support the Iditarod, its mushers, and the continuation of this iconic Alaskan event. These opportunities range from unique race-day experiences to digital access and official merchandise, all contributing to the work of the Iditarod Trail Committee, a non-profit organization.

One of the most distinctive fundraising experiences is the IditaRider program. Through the annual IditaRider auction, supporters can bid for the chance to ride in a musher’s sled during the ceremonial start in Anchorage. Winning bidders meet their musher on race morning and ride behind the team through downtown Anchorage, experiencing the excitement of the start from inside the race itself.

In recent years, IditaRider bids have typically started at a few hundred US dollars, with some sled seats reaching several thousand dollars. A “buy-it-now” option, when available, has historically been offered at around US$7,500. Final prices vary each year depending on demand and participating mushers.

Another way to support the race is by attending the Mushers Banquet and participating in the silent auction. Items and experiences donated by mushers, artists, and supporters are auctioned, with proceeds benefiting race operations and the broader Iditarod community. The banquet is also a key social event ahead of the race start.

For fans who want deeper access throughout the race, the Insider program on iditarod.com offers live GPS tracking, video coverage, interviews, expert commentary, and behind-the-scenes content. Subscription revenue helps fund race media coverage and infrastructure.

Additional support comes from purchasing official merchandise at the Iditarod Store, attending fundraising events, and supporting official race partners. All contributions help preserve the traditions, trail communities, and competitive spirit of the Iditarod.
